Researchers Hazem Khalaf and Torbjörn Bengtsson, the founders of Virenc, have developed and patented a compound based on the antiviral peptides PLNC8ab. The peptides target viruses in a different way from many existing treatments.

Earlier this year, Virenc began collaborating with Niklas Arnberg, professor of virology at Umeå University. The peptides have now been tested in an advanced 3D model of human airways.
